St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

Traditional Irish dinner
LENTEN PROGRAM: This year’s Lenten program will be a study of H. Richard Niebuhr’s book Christ & Culture. No reading will be required (the rector will present a synopsis of the work). A basic summary of his thesis might be to say that Christians tend to ‘do Christianity’ largely based on how they view the culture around them. His scheme breaks into five basic categories, often called “Christ Against Culture”, “Christ of Culture”, “Christ Above Culture”, “Christ Transforming Culture”, and “Christ and Culture in Paradox”. The aim of the study is to help parishioners better understand their own orientation towards their faith based upon how they are oriented towards the culture around them. Secondarily, this should help them interact with Christians (and non-Christians) from the other persuasions, making us have a more effective and inclusive witness as a parish. The program will begin on March 8th and meet each Wednesday at 7pm through Holy Week in the Vestry room. All are welcome.
ECW/ST. ELIZABETH’S CIRCLE: The ECW will hold a ‘pot-luck’ supper on Tuesday, March 7th at 7pm in the Vestry room.
ST. PATRICK’S DINNER: Our mid-Lenten fellowship event this year will be a St. Patrick’s Day dinner on March 17th at 6:30pm. Tickets ($15 for adults, $8 for children) are available in the office. All the traditional fare plus live entertainment and raffles promise to make the night a joy and a one-night respite from the rigors of our Lenten disciplines.
DID YOU GIVE UP SOMETHING FOR LENT THIS YEAR?
