TINY TOTS COMMUNITY PLAY SCHOOL
Located in Trinity's Education building at 51 Scudder Avenue, Tiny Tots Community Play School provides non-sectarian, nurturing child care for ages 14 months to 33 months for two hours in the morning during the work week. The qualified paid staff provides personalized attention, nutritious snacks, and a hands-on curriculum. An outdoor playground, in addition to an indoor gym and hall provide areas for activities outside of the classroom. The program is funded and supervised by Trinity Church, which in recent years invested in air conditioning the building so that a summer program could be conducted by the nursery school.
Our teachers are qualified, motivated and dedicated. Their training and experience with young children enable them to build a sense of trust with both you and your child. Each class is supervised by teacher and an assistant teacher. Individual needs are assessed and addressed with hugging, playing, talking, rocking, singing and cuddling.
We firmly believe that teachers are partners with parents, and we will communicate directly with you about daily routines, activities and progress.
Our on-staff Parent Educator facilitates workshops on topics suffested by our infant/toddler families. These workshops offer extensive, timely information about subject matter that is important to you and your children during this stage of development. Additionally, our Parent Educator is available to parents on an individual basis for specific problem solving.
We recognize that each child is an individual with specific needs. All activities and play experiences are planned with attention to age and interests, self-discovery and exploration. Our attention to vocabulary and auditory development enhances your child's communication skills, interactive abilities and creative expression. Classroom materials are carefully selected for educational value, safety, versatility and fun
Stimulating activities include: indoor and outdoor gym areas; activity playrooms; arts and crafts; fine motor manipulatives; sand and water tables; introduction to foreign and sign languages; story time and finger plays; flannel board drama; music and movement; rhythm and song; snacks/seasonal fruit and nutritious dry finger foods. Our program's success depends on parent-teacher collaboration, flexibility and diversity.
Our class mothers foster friendships and encourage involvement. Their role has included: parents' breakfasts in the first weeks of school; participation in the Cow Harbor Parade; fall family festival; an interactive puppet show; fashion show fundraiser; and family pancake breakfast.
Our Mommy & Me program welcomes children between 14 and 23 months, including those with special needs. This group setting uses the school's program components and enables a parental exchange of ideas as it encourages relationships between your child and others.
