FUNDRAISING DONATIONS
In the past, whenever the call has gone out, the parish has responded generously in raising funds for specific capital and need-based projects. In addition, many members have donated their time and labor to repair and upgrade church-related buildings, such as the ongoing project of upgrading the Curate's House at 53 Scudder Avenue.
Currently, Trinity's greatest need is to cover increasing internal expenses. This is especially important as it faces the retirement of Rev. Dr. Eric Weaver in June of 2009, and prepares to search for a new rector. Recently one generous parishioner donated $5,000 specifically for this search, which involves travel costs and expenses of hosting visiting clergy candidates.
Other fundraising efforts frequently involve events that have benefited members of the community in their time of need, such as a "Night of Wine & Song" that benefited Diane Hardenfelder's family. The mother of four, and integral church member, passed away in 2007. Other fundraisers, such as the Battle of the Bands and Long Island's first U2Charist, helped to benefit the Northport-East Northport Food Pantry. Trinity is a member of the Northport Chamber of Commerce, donates to fire and police departments and supports Episcopal Relief & Development.
Your participation and donations at these events help to keep Trinity in its location both literally and figuratively as the "heart" of Northport.
