BATTLE OF THE BANDS
2004

Five
bands, no waiting!
Saturday night was rocking with the mega-amplified sounds of the
Battle
of the Bands. Ray Roel put the gig together
with the Huntington Youth Development Association and the
expected turnout of 150 kids turned
out to be 171!
The music was loud, but solid, with some pro sounding guitar and drum
licks. Each group had its own following and as the bands each took the
stage, those girls were squealing!
All the proceeds went to the Ecumenical Lay Council Food Pantry.
As Bishop Walker said in his sermon the next morning; "The music was good
and we all had a fun time; but the food . . . the food touched the lives
of people we don't even know."
Kudos to everyone who staffed the event. It went off so smoothly that
everyone wants to do it again. At this moment, new dates are being
considered.
Awesome! |
